Harris vs. Trump spoiler’s supporter says the quiet part out loud

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein stands no chance of becoming president. It's even clear to some of her supporters.

But a vote for Stein in a critical state could accomplish one goal: Keeping Kamala Harris out of the White House in her race against Donald Trump .

Former Seattle City Council member and prominent Indian-American political activist Kshama Sawant made that clear at a recent event. Sawanta is against the Democratic and Republican parties, and she's the founder of Workers Strike Back, which opposes the war in Gaza and calls for a ceasefire.

Democratic strategist Keith Edwards posted to X, "WOW! At an event before introducing , Kshama Sawant ADMITS that Stein can't win and is only in the race to prevent Kamala Harris from winning."

Here's what Sawant had to say:

"The election has already started. Absentee ballots have been sent. We need to catch up rapidly. We need everyone here to get active. We need to be clear about what our goals are. We are not in a position to win the White House, but we do have a real opportunity to win something historic, we could deny Kamala Harris the state of Michigan. And the polls show that most likely Harris cannot win the election without Michigan."

The rapidly escalating war in the Middle East has heightened anger at Democrats from within Michigan's Arab American community, just about a month before a presidential election in which Harris is counting on support from within a key party constituency.

Well over 1,000 people attended a rally last month organized overnight by some of the top leaders in Dearborn, Michigan, a hub of the nation's largest Arab community, to protest an Israeli offensive against Hezbollah in which more than 600 people have been killed so far.

Hundreds of green and red Lebanese flags filled Dearborn's night sky. Many speakers blamed Harris and Joe Biden for U.S. arms shipments to Israel, which has launched a second major offensive while still fighting Hamas in Gaza in a conflict that's caused thousands of civilian casualties already.

Trump is actively attempting to court these dissatisfied voters. In September, he received the endorsement of Democrat Amer Ghalib, the Muslim mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan.

Also last month, Palestinian Authority leader Mahmoud Abbas met with Massad Boulos, Trump's youngest daughter's father-in-law, who is spearheading the former president's outreach to Arab and Muslim communities. The meeting was confirmed by Bishara Bahbah, chairman of Arab Americans for Trump, who attended but could not disclose its details.

Many Arab American leaders, meanwhile, have strongly opposed a Trump presidency, citing his so-called Muslim ban on immigrants from several majority-Muslim countries.
