This is the second threat the district has received this week.

In a release from the school district, HCCSC Superintendent John Trout shared that his office was made aware of a non-specific threat that a district student posted on Snapchat on Thursday, Sept. 19.

According to the release, an investigation was initiated by local law enforcement and the FBI, and it was found that the threat originated in Kentucky and was directed toward a school district in that state.

HCCSC leaders say that upon investigation, authorities found that the threat was non-credible and there was no danger to students and staff.

Trout says that in an abundance of caution, HCCSC will have increased law enforcement on district campuses.

Chief Boxell with the Huntington Police Department stressed the dangers of reposting such claims on social media, encouraging kids to talk to their parents about any concerns and bring any suspicious posts to police directly so they can investigate rather than sharing online.
