BLOOMINGTON — Heidi M. Zell, 67, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. Heidi was a pillar of strength to her family and friends, who embodied love, kindness, and joy. Her passing leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on July 3, 1957, in Highland, IL, to William and Dorothea Schoeneich Knebel, Heidi's life reflected deep devotion to family and friends. On July 28, 1979, she married Curtis M. Zell in Pekin, IL. Having just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in Italy, their marriage was a testament to steadfast love and mutual respect.

Heidi's world revolved around her family, and her greatest pride was her children, Courtney (Luke) Armstrong and Clayton (fiancée Jessica Alvis) Zell. Known as "Mama Heidi" to their friends, she welcomed everyone into her home and heart. Holidays were filled with love and tradition, and her extraordinary gift for making everyone feel cherished made her home a sanctuary of warmth. Also known as "Grandma Heidi" to many children, Heidi shared her boundless love and affection with every child in her life.

Heidi had a special way of turning ordinary moments into something extraordinary. She lived with deep appreciation for life and ensured everyone felt valued.

For over 15 years, Heidi managed Jenni's Salon and Spa in Bloomington. Known for her kindness, leadership, and dedication, she had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like a friend. Her impact in the salon and community will be remembered and cherished always.

Welcoming Heidi to Heaven, her father, William, and sister, Catherine Coccaro. Heidi will be the guardian angel to Curt, Courtney, Luke, Clayton, Jessica, her mother Dorothea "Meme", her sister Kimberly (Greg) Anton, brother William (Karen) Knebel, brother-in-law Michael (Josephine) Coccaro and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, and dear friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024, at St. Patrick Church of Merna. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois.
