Heritage Hats boasts rich history as oldest hat shop in Phoenix

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Rich Glisson started Heritage Hats in 1984 out of the trunk of his 1978 Datsun truck.

Glisson worked at the local rodeos and horse shows, setting up booths wherever he went. When some older cattlemen and ranchers told him that Phoenix never had a full-service hat shop, Glisson decided to meet that need.

Heritage Hats is now the oldest and largest hat shop in the Valley, with a 4,000-square-foot showroom. You can buy all types of hats—western, fedoras, Panama, golf and hiking.

At Heritage Hats, they custom shape the hats for the best fit and steam them to perfection. Rich says he loves his business as it introduces him to people from all over the world and from many walks of life.

His customers include President Reagan, Wallace and Ladmo, George Burns and the cast of GLEE. Heritage Hats is still managed by the same man who founded the company forty years ago.
