The House swore in new members who will serve in place of former Reps. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) and Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) on Tuesday.

Erica Lee Carter, Jackson Lee's daughter, will fill the vacancy left after she died of pancreatic cancer over the summer.

She will represent Texas's 18th District until Sylvester Turner, Houston's former mayor, takes the post in January. He won with 40 percent of the vote.

Republican newcomer Tony Wied will replace Gallagher, who resigned in April after receiving pushback from fellow party members for refusing to support the impeachment of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas of the Department of Homeland Security.

Wied won Wisconsin's 8th District with 60 percent of the vote.

Wied previously owned six Dino Stop gas stations in the Badger State before entering politics. He was endorsed by President-elect Trump but has been critical of the leader in the past, citing qualms with his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel .
