Houston warehouse fire: Heavy smoke, flames at facility on Bingle Road

- The Houston Fire Department is battling a 2-alarm fire at a warehouse in northwest Houston.

According to initial reports, the fire broke out around 3:10 p.m. in the 3300 block of Bingle Road near Bascom Street at a facility. Heavy smoke and flames can be seen coming from the building.

According to Brent Taylor, Communications Director for the Houston Fire Department, firefighters attempted to make entry into the building to fight the fire but had some problems due to debris.

A second alarm was called about 15 minutes later as the smoke and flames continued.

Taylor said at least 100 firefighters are on scene battling the fire.

Officials stated that arson units are on scene to investigate the fire.

Air and water quality in the area is being monitored and there is no indication of a shelter in place being needed.

Officials stated the building is believed to be furniture stock.

Taylor added a homeless encampment is located near the fire and those folks were checked on by authorities.

No injuries have been reported.

It's unclear how long firefighters will remain on scene, but drivers should avoid the area.
