How to Freeze Peak-Season Apples to Use in Your Baking All Year Long

J.Davis4 hr ago
There's no better way to spend a crisp fall day than to go apple picking with friends and family, but returning home with a few bags of apples can be a tad overwhelming. Even if you snack on them throughout the week and bake up some delicious pies and crumbles , you might still find yourself with an overflowing bounty of apples.

If you've ever wondered if you can freeze apples, the answer is absolutely! While frozen apples don't retain the exact same taste and texture as fresh apples, they are still great to use in many recipes and even to make homemade apple sauce . Technically, you can freeze any type of apple but there are a few varieties that are ideal, such as, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Cortland, Empire, Rome Beauty, York Imperial, and classic Granny Smiths. Frozen apples will stay fresh for up to a year, but they're best to use within six months if you want to take advantage of their quality.
