HSHS to close Milliken Medical Group Health Center by end of the year
DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A walk-in clinic on Millikin University's campus will close before the end of the year.
HSHS Medical Group Health Center — Millikin University on Fairview Avenue will close on Dec. 27. Leaders from the medical group made the decision after assessing the care they deliver.
"HSHS Medical Group has determined it is necessary to end its agreement with Millikin University to provide medical management services for the walk-in clinic located on Millikin Universitys campus," said Vice President of Operations HSHS Physician Enterprise Mandi Vehlow. "It has been our honor to provide medical management services for the Millikin Clinic for the past two years, and HSHS remains committed to continuing to serve the Decatur community through our many other healthcare services and locations."

Millikin officials said the university is exploring other provider options, but does not have a transition agreement set in stone.
They stress that while the open-to-public health center is closing, the Milliken community will still be able to get services they need.
"We appreciate the important services that the Millikin Health Clinic provides to our students, faculty, staff and the greater Decatur community. We are working diligently to avoid an interruption of services at the Clinic, and we will share an update when we have more information," Millikin President Dr. Jim Reynolds said. "It's important to note that Millikin's Health & Wellness Services, including our Student Mental and Behavioral Health (SMBH) Office, will continue to operate and support Millikin`s students, staff and faculty."
Officials recommend other urgent care options in Macon County including Decatur Memorial Urgent Care on US 36 East, Local MD Urgent Care on Water Street, and Central Illinois Urgent Care on Koester Road in Forsyth.
