Incumbent wins to represent Grand Rapids’ West Side on Kent County board

KENT COUNTY, MI - Carol Hennessy was reelected to the Kent County Board of Commissioners representing residents on the West Side of Grand Rapids.

Democrat Carol Hennessy, the incumbent, was challenged by Republican Catherine Edwards in the Tuesday, Nov. 5, general election to represent District 14.

The district covers most of Grand Rapids' West Side.

Hennessy received 9,451 votes, or 65 percent, to Edwards' 5,017 votes, or 34.5 percent, according to unofficial Kent County results.

The term is four years.

Hennessy has served on the Kent County Board of Commissioners since 2006.

Edwards is an attorney and a deputy legal counsel for the state House of Representatives.
