Indiana County motorcyclist killed in two-vehicle crash, state police say
An Indiana County man died Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in South Mahoning Township, state police in Indiana said in a news release.
Rory D. Gittings, 51, of Shelocta Borough, was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle with no passenger and traveling east on state Route 85 at 6:25 p.m. when it traveled into the westbound lane and collided with a 2015 Dodge Caravan, state Trooper Cliff Greenfield said.
Gittings was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van, Maurice D. Hayden, 41, of New Kensington, and two adult passengers suffered minor injuries. One of the passengers was taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center for treatment.
A state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Unit was called to help in the crash investigation.
Citizen's Ambulance Service, Marion Center and Plumville volunteer firefighters responded, along with the Indiana County District Attorney's Office and the coroner's office.
