Juan Soto Tops Red Sox’s “Want List” Amid Reports of Boston’s Extra Aggressiveness in the Free Agent Market

The free-agent market has just one name that's loud and clear—Juan Soto. From the New York Yankees to the Toronto Blue Jays, the LA Dodgers to the New York Mets, everyone is interested in getting the phenom. So why should the Boston Red Sox really hold back? Well, rumors are making the rounds that the Sox are going to pursue Juan Soto. This means two things, first that the team is returning to aggressive spending and second, it's ready to compete it out in the free-agent market.

And this way, they are keeping the rivalry with the Yankees alive. It is a known fact that the Yankees want Juan Soto, and there is going to be a meeting with Boone literally ready with a pitch for Soto. Yet, given Yanks are a bigger fish, they are not stepping back, and they won't, as per reports of Jon Heyman and of ESPN Jeff Passan.

Could the Boston Red Sox land Juan Soto? It remains to see if the Boston Red Sox can bring Juan Soto and pull off the greatest heist. Just imagine—getting the player your fierce rivals are rooting for the loudest. No rivalry would ring truer than this! Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that the Red Sox will be among the teams who will meet Soto and his agent Scott Boras in California. Hayman said, "The Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Francisco Giants, the Red Sox, and two other 'mystery' teams (one believed to be from a smaller market) are believed to be planning to join the Jays, Mets, and Yankees on trips to southern California to visit with the 26-year-old superstar starting this week." However, this isn't a piece of cake; Juan Soto's contract will run up to $500-$600. But it seems like Boston is ready to spend.

Jeff Passan attested to the fact that the Red Sox is indeed interested in the Dominican. "Another team with Soto at the top of its want list: Boston. The Red Sox also have a meeting on the books with Soto this week, and, like the Blue Jays, their aggressiveness extends into the starting pitching market as well," said Passan. For the reporter, this isn't casual interest. With a career full of accolades at just 26, Soto could be the missing link that the Red Sox are looking for in 2025.

Boston Red Sox is serious about spending big! The Boston Red Sox are all ready to flex their financial muscles this time around. Agents who have been meeting with the Red Sox since the end of the season are hearing one message—the team is ready to do what it takes. That means aggressive moves in the free agency and big player moves. One agent summed up, saying, "I think they're back in business." And what's bigger than signing the gem of the season?

But why would you be interested in Soto? Well, for starters, Soto is one of the most dynamic hitters in the MLB. Plus, he is super young and has a thriving career still waiting ahead of him. This season he crushed 41 home runs and propelled the New York Yankees to the World Series. He already has four All-Star selections, and adding him to the Boston lineup could really help elevate the team.

If the Red Sox can land Soto, he would be joining Rafael Devers and Jarren Duran and maybe be the most powerful lineup in the league. Well, it could even put them ahead of their rival Yankees. Do you think they can battle it out with the other teams? Let us know in the comments.
