Kamala Harris reassures world that she is still confident in Joe Biden's mental ability to serve president despite recent gaffes

Vice President Kamala Harris is still vouching for President Joe Biden 's mental and physical stamina, even as he continues showing signs of his age.

Biden continues to limit his number of public events with scheduled calls and meetings between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

'Of course,' Harris spokesperson Ian Same replied, when asked by Axios if Harris had full confidence in the president's mental fitness.

The president's lighter schedule appears to be an effort to keep him and embarrassing headlines out of the spotlight as Harris runs for president.

Last week, Biden said he was talking with the Israelis about possible strikes on Iranian oil facilities last week, causing oil prices to skyrocket. He also joked about getting back into the presidential race, triggering concerns from Harris staffers trying to quietly separate the the vice president from Biden's record.

Biden and his close-knit team failed to keep questions about his health and physical abilities at bay this Summer, as the president ultimately had to abandon his reelection campaign.

Biden's appearance at an evening fundraiser in California and a terrible debate performance in June shook Democrat leaders who abandoned their faith in him and demanded that he step down.

But he still remains president of the United States, despite signs that he continues to suffer from mental lapses and confusion.

The president again left the White House for the weekend to rest at Camp David, opting against the bad optics of returning to his beach property in Delaware while Americans in South Carolina, North Carolina, and Tennessee were suffering from the historic flooding brought about by Hurricane Helene.

On Saturday, he traveled to a White House staffer's wedding at Notre Dame University.

Republicans continued to excoriate Biden's apathy in response to the storm suggesting he was more focused on spending his weekend at Rehoboth Beach than taking care of Americans caught in the storm.

Other reports detailed Biden's disappointment as Harris appeared to distance herself from Biden, mentioning him less on the campaign trail and instead running on offering a 'new generation of leadership .'

The last time Harris and Biden appeared for an extended public event together was for a White House event on gun violence on September 26th. The pair also reunited for a public event for the Phoenix Awards Dinner hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation on September 14.

Reports detailing Biden's shrinking public presidential role appear to have annoyed the president as he made a surprise appearance at the White House Press Briefing room to take questions from reporters.

He reminded the press that he and Harris were still united and that she was a critical part of his presidency, despite her campaign's attempt to separate from him.

'We're singing from the same song sheet,' he said. 'She helped pass all of the laws that are being employed now, she was a major player in everything we've done.

When reporters jokingly asked if he was planning on getting back into the presidential race, Biden replied 'I'm back in!' as he exited the room.
