Media day is a much-anticipated time of the NBA season because of the many surprises it usually has. Media day always provides some entertainment, whether it's a superstar wearing his new team's uniform, a player's new hairdo, or even a coach's bold statement. However, in 2019, during the Toronto Raptors media day session, Kawhi Leonard and his unexpected laugh stole the show.

Kawhi showed a little bit of his personality

For most of his decorated career, the 6-foot-7 wingman from San Diego State has been known as an enigma. In an era where superstars regularly thump their chests and have huge social media followings, Kawhi has primarily kept to himself. Outside of his media responsibilities, he's garnered a reputation for being reserved and private.

But on that fateful day before tip-off of the 2018-2019 season, Kawhi let his guard down and surprised everyone with a hearty laugh. It was a rare glimpse into the fun-loving side of the usually stoic and serious athlete.

After describing himself as a "fun guy" and telling the media they needed to ask him questions to get him to open up more, Kawhi broke into what can only be described as a bizarre and infectious laugh. The video of his laugh quickly went viral, with fans and media outlets sharing it on social media.

A memorable moment

According to Bleacher Report , that moment is one of media day's most memorable ones, ranked up there with Jimmy Butler's emo look and Michael Beasley's nonsensical answers during an interview.

Several months later, Kawhi showed the Raptors how much fun he was when he led them to their first and only NBA title, winning over the injury-ravaged Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. As unforgettable as Kawhi's media day session was, his postseason run was even more impressive, as he averaged 30.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.
