COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Kendrick High's football game for Friday, Sept. 20 has been rescheduled as the death of a student continues to be investigated.

Initial Coverage: Arrest made in shooting death of Kendrick High student

Kendrick Cherokees and Hardaway Harks were originally scheduled to play at Odis Spencer Stadium at 7 p.m. The game has now been moved to noon on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Kinnett Stadium. Gates will open for spectators at 11:15 a.m.

This comes as one of Kendrick High's own was killed in a deadly shooting on early Thursday evening at Watkins Drive. Fifteen-year-old Earkavion Lee was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., according to Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan.

The school district released a statement postponing the game at about 1:15 p.m.

The Muscogee County School District says this decision was made "after careful consideration of the safety and well-being of our students, families, and community members."

That same day, an arrest was made in connection to Lee's death. Roannil Clanton is being charged with murder and six counts of aggravated assault.
