Kenywood's Holiday Lights Nominated For National Accolade

Here's how the national publication described the annual event, which begins on Friday:

"Kennywood is illuminated with millions of lights during its annual Holiday Lights celebration. Local choirs perform holiday favorites while guests take pictures with Santa, enjoy their favorite rides and holiday attractions, munch on festive treats, stand in awe at the most colossal Christmas tree in Pennsylvania, and watch a choreographed spectacle of lights over the lagoon."

A nice summation, but there also re several new additions to the festivities this year:

A Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Zone offering meet and greets with Rudolph and his friends Clarice, Bumble and Sam the Snowman.

Live performances at the park's garden stage that will feature songs from artists such as Michael Buble, Ariana Grande and Bruno Mars.

An all-new Santa meet-and-greet experience in the park's Lost Kennywood area.

Jeeter's Pub and Carousel Burger Company will offer the park's initial holiday menus featuring hot toddies, peppermint milkshakes, warm pretzels and more.

Additional rides will be open this year as well, including the Racer, Turtle, Potato Smash Bumper Cars and Musik Express. More than 25 rides and attractions will be operating through the season.

Holiday Lights runs Fridays from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 3 p.m.-9 p.m. from Nov. 15-Dec. 23, plus daily from December 26 through January 1.
