Killarney RCMP respond to fatal collision

Media Release - September 24, 2024

On September 19, 2024, at approximately 2:35 pm, Killarney RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 23, approximately five kilometres west of Ninette, Manitoba. When officers arrived on scene, an SUV was in the northbound ditch, and Emergency Medical Services and the Dunrea Fire Department were present. Soon after the officers' arrival, the 60-year-old male driver from Elgin was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation has determined that the SUV was travelling westbound when it entered the north ditch at a high rate of speed. The SUV then hit an approach and rolled several times.

The male driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, and he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

A RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
