Conservation and alternative approaches to energy were targeted for a boost as $275,000 in grants were announced by The Lancaster County Community Foundation this week.

The seven organizations receiving funds for their work on farm preservation, nature conservation, alternative approaches to energy, wildlife rehabilitation are Lancaster Conservancy, $50,000; Lancaster Farm Trust, $50,000; RegenAll, $50,000; Spanish American Civic Association, $50,000; Let's Go 1-2-3, $36,000; Foundation of the Economic Development Company of Lancaster County, $25,000; and Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation, $13,000.

The announcement of the awards took place at a free, public event Thursday at The Farm at Eagles Ridge, 465 Long Lane, in Pequea Township.

"We know that Lancaster County's farmland, greenspaces, and waterways face unique challenges and that we must protect these resources for future generations," Foundation President and CEO Sam Bressi said of the grant awards. "Thanks to visionary funders who have contributed to the community's endowment over time, we are honored to support the work of so many impactful organizations that are protecting our planet."

The Lancaster County Community Foundation is celebrating 100 years of community impact by looking ahead to the next 100 years and investing more than $1 million in additional funds in four future-focused areas - creative expression, well-being and vibrancy, next generation and our planet.

Investments in these areas through local organizations are intended to build a more resilient, vibrant, and inclusive future for all residents of the county, Foundation representatives said.
