Lanett Police: Investigation reveals shooting at South 10th Avenue was likely accidental

LANETT, Ala. ( WRBL ) — The Lanett Police Department confirmed on Friday a juvenile was shot in the leg. Detectives now believe that shooting was self-inflicted and accidental.
Police were dispatched to the 300 block of South 10th Avenue at about 12 p.m. on Thursday. At the scene, officers found a juvenile male had been shot in the leg. He was taken to a local trauma center for treatment.
Detectives interviewed witnesses present during the incident. Police say preliminary investigation shows the gunshot wound was self-inflicted from accidentally discharging the gun.
