MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ( WMBF /Gray News) - A popular seafood restaurant in South Carolina is being taken to court over what was allegedly found in one of its soups.

Tiffany and Kevin Buddington have filed a lawsuit against Heidi's Corner Restaurant Group, which is the parent company of Hook & Barrel.

The lawsuit claims that the Buddington's went to the Hook & Barrel restaurant in Myrtle Beach on Sept. 21, 2023, where Tiffany Buddington ordered a bowl of the she-crab soup.

"While eating her soup, Mrs. Buddington felt a sharp, painful sensation in her throat and began to choke," the lawsuit stated.

According to the lawsuit, Kevin Buddington then administered the Heimlich maneuver on his wife, which caused her to spit out a metal bobby pin.

The lawsuit claims that a second bobby pin was later discovered in Tiffany Buddington, and it had to be surgically removed from her stomach.

The lawsuit accuses the restaurant of being negligent and requests a jury trial. The couple is also asking to be granted relief in actual, punitive and consequential damages.

Heidi's Corner Restaurant Group has denied all of the allegations and has asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed.
