Legendary Birmingham Bulls forward to be inducted into ECHL Hall of Fame

SHREWSBURY, N.J. ( WIAT ) — A legendary forward for the Birmingham Bulls will be inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame in January.

Jamey Hicks, who was a captain for the Bulls in the late 1990s, was announced as a 2025 inductee Tuesday. In 352 career ECHL games with the Bulls and Arkansas RiverBlades, he registered 162 goals and 318 assists.

The Timmins, Ontario, native skated for the Bulls from 1996-2001, and his best season came during the 1997-98 campaign. The right-handed shot topped the ECHL with 119 goals, with 44 of those points coming from goals. Hicks' outstanding performances led him to be named the league's most valuable player. His 32-game point streak in that campaign is the third longest in ECHL history.

The Bulls moved following the 2000-01 season , but a new Bulls franchise was born in 2017 that has competed in the SPHL. Hicks was named the head coach of the new club and served in that position for three seasons. The Bulls retired Hicks' No. 14 in October .

The 2025 ECHL Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled to be held in the Radisson Plaza Hotel at Kalamazoo Center in Michigan on Jan. 17.
