Lehigh Valley weather: Scattered snow showers could cut visibility

J.Martin3 months ago
Scattered snow showers were passing through the Lehigh Valley region on Tuesday afternoon , the National Weather Service said.

In a special weather statement, the weather service said these snow showers could briefly cut visibility to less than a mile — and cause some light snowfall accumulation.

“Bridges, overpasses, and any untreated roadways or other paved surfaces may become slippery in spots,” the statement read. “Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.”

At Lehigh Valley International Airport outside Allentown, the timing for the scattered snow showers showed them most likely before 5 p.m. Tuesday, with isolated snow showers then possible before 7 p.m. followed by a chance of flurries until about 8 p.m., the weather service said.

Otherwise, it was a partly sunny but very chilly afternoon, with a high temperature near 36 and a west wind around 20 mph gusting as high as 35 mph, according to the weather service. The nighttime low overnight into Wednesday was forecast around 20 with the west wind continuing to blow around 10 to 15 mph and gusting as high as 25 mph.

Any daytime snow accumulation at the airport was expected to total less than a half-inch, according to the forecast.
