Letter: Automobile registration scofflaws are hurting everyone

Regarding " Is a 'vigilante' targeting expired vehicle tags in St. Louis? " (Oct. 25): I hope the person who slashed the tires on improperly registered automobiles is caught and at minimum made to cover the cost of the damage done to these vehicles.

At the same time, the owner of two of the cars stating she was victimized for "something that legitimately is not hurting anyone" is sadly mistaken.

The inability of our state and local governments to enforce vehicle-registration laws and collect the taxes and fees relative to owning a vehicle is hurting everyone. Our streets, roads, bridges and highways are in terrible shape. These are just a few of the services where government is falling short.
