Letter: Let's solve problems

Sen. Deb Fischer distorts statements by Dan Osborn about immigrants. Sen. Pete Ricketts wants us to hate China over land ownership and TikTok, yet presents no data. I have been to China, Cuba and India. All have good and bad policies and people, like Nebraska. Kamala Harris wants to find solutions within Congress to improve immigration, job creation and medical care. What would Trump do? Six of his companies went bankrupt. He failed us on COVID. He is a convicted felon who abused women. He wants to deport millions who have been in the US for decades.

Women and their doctors should choose to continue or end a pregnancy within the 22 weeks of fetal viability. A doctor from Columbus says to vote against Initiative 439 to preserve women's rights, but Initiative 434 would keep a 12 -week ban in place that should be repealed.

Gov. Jim Pillen wants to stop discussions at the University of Nebraska on race and equality. The U.S. was built by immigrants and natural-born citizens who worked together. Wars against Natives and forced separation of their children cause severe issues now. Slavery was horrible. We should discuss those issues. We should not ban books about complex human issues. Many Spanish-speaking immigrants are doing jobs most of us would not do, from roofing and house repair to packaging our meat. All need fair wages, food and housing availability and public schooling. We need to reduce climate change and waste disposal.

Can we get back to working to solve problems?
