"While there are still many votes to be counted, I'm cautiously optimistic about the Election Night results for the District 4 council seat. I'm so grateful to all the people who supported me, and to everyone who voted. I spent a lot of time this past year meeting with all the people who live, work, and own businesses in this city, and I had many doorstep conversations with the residents of District 4. I am humbled by the opportunity to serve on our City Council, and I am ready to get to work for the people of Livermore," Wang told Patch in a statement.

"It looks like it may be too early to call the Council races, but I am truly honored that the voters of Livermore continue to put their trust and faith in me to lead our remarkable community. I am looking forward to working with the new Council to keep our community a place where people choose to live, work and play," said Livermore Mayor John Marchand, who ran unopposed.

Marchand has supported both Dunbar and Wang publicly, and shared a photo of them together on his Instagram page , writing, "Congratulations to these exceptional individuals, and , for becoming the newest members of Livermore's city council! Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to our community is truly inspiring."
