FYI: Suski is 34-for-43 (79%) for 807 yards with 11 TD flips against no picks during the Saints' 5-game winning tear. ... Cedar Crest — The Falcons soared to a 49-29 victory over Section 1 rival Hempfield in the first round of the D3-6A bracket, with stickers going to: RB Isaiah Zimmerman, who rushed for 182 yards with five TD runs, including a 45-yard sprint to cap it; QB Jackson Custer, who hit on 11-of-16 passes for 206 yards with a TD toss; WR Jack Waranavage, who caught six passes for 150 yards — 25 yards per grab — with a 20-yard TD reception; and Cameron Tirado, who had an electrifying 47-yard TD run on a hook-and-lateral trickeration play, as Cedar Crest took down the Black Knights for the second time in three weeks. ... FYI: Zimmerman is up to 1,482 rushing yards, averaging 9.0 yards per carry, with 17 TD runs; he rushed for 392 yards and scored eight touchdowns in the Falcons' two games vs. Hempfield. ... Cocalico — The ground-and-pound Eagles opened defense of their back-to-back D3-5A championships in fine fashion with a 42-21 triumph over Hershey. Four stickers for Cocalico: QB Josh Myer rushed for 138 yards with three TD keepers, inducing 62-yard and 52-yard sprints; FB Dane Horning bolted for 142 yards with a pair of TD runs, including a 35-yard romp; Thomas Dattoli scooped up a blocked punt and rumbled 11 yards for a special teams TD; and Jerry McArdle supplied the blocked punt, and he had eight tackles, one for a loss, and two sacks to key the Eagles' defensive effort. McArdle blocked a punt, leading to another TD, in Week 9 vs. Conrad Weiser. ... FYI: Horning (1,173 rushing yards, 10 TD) and Myer (1,162 rushing yards, 14 TD) are the only pair of 1,000-yard backs on any L-L team so far this season. ... FYI: Redding's 86-yard pick-6 is the longest INT return for a TD in the league so far this season. ... Zandier is up to 1,679 rushing yards, averaging a smooth 13.3 yards per carry, and he's tied for the league lead with 26 TD runs. ... Lancaster Catholic — The Crusaders punched their tickets to the D3-2A championship game with a 27-20 victory over reigning champ Camp Hill. Stickers for: DB Ethan Shank, who had two interceptions, and he returned one of the picks 47 yards for a TD, and RB Brandon Way, who motored for 123 yards with a pair of TD sprints, covering 33 and 37 yards, respectively, as Catholic polished off a sweep against the Lions this season. ... FYI: Way is up to 1,788 rushing yards, No. 2 in the L-L, averaging 8.6 yards per pop, with 26 TD runs, tied for most in the league. ... Muhlenberg — The Muhls finished with a flourish, snapping a 6-game slide with a 24-0 victory over William Allen in the Eastern Conference big-school championship game, and RB Cameron Small etched his name in the record books. The scatback rushed for 209 yards with two TD runs, including a 45-yard rip against the Canaries, and he finished the season with 2,051 rushing yards, most in the league through Week 11. Small is just the fourth back in Berks County history, and the 10th back in L-L history, to have a 2,000-yard rushing season.
Schuylkill Valley — The Panthers pummeled Littlestown 55-13 in the D3-3A quarterfinals, and the stars of the show were QB Logan Nawrocki, who hit on 14-of-16 passes for 282 yards with four TD tosses, and John Kowalski, who returned a kickoff 72 yards for a TD, and he hauled in an 85-yard TD catch as SV won its eighth game in a row. ... FYI: Nawrocki leads the L-L in passing yards (2,434) and TD passes (34) through Week 11. ... Up next: Panthers (9-2) at 2-seed Trinity (8-2) in a D3-3A semifinal on Friday.
