VESTAL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Members of law enforcement from across New York's 19th congressional district were in Vestal today to endorse their pick for congress.

Republican Congressman Marc Molinaro held a news conference this morning, alongside representatives from law enforcement.

Members of law enforcement endorsed Molinaro in the race for the 19th congressional district. Some of the endorsements include the Johnson City PBA, the New York State Investigators Association, the National Border Patrol Council, and the Police Conference of New York.

The Delaware County Sheriff, Craig DuMond, says he's voting for Molinaro because he has, and always will put public safety first.

"The choice is clear, very clear to me, very clear to the people in Delaware County that I speak to. Marc Molinaro is our congressman. He's the person who is going to deliver us from a lot of these problems. He is unapologetic when it comes to his support for law enforcement. He always has been, he always will be, and I'm very, very proud to call him my friend," said DuMond.

Molinaro says the recent uptick in crime has to do with the situation at the Southern border. He says he will keep working to shut the border, and to lift sanctuary city policies.
