A married couple died after fighting in their Longview home last week, the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office reported. One was stabbed, the other stabbed and shot.

Their 11-year-old child was in another room when the fight happened, officials added.

Sheriff's deputies and paramedics arrived at the home in the 4700 block of Olympia Way shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 to find Juan Antonio Alvarado Saenz and Cecilia Robles Ochoa dead in the kitchen.

When shots were fired, the 11-year-old was "in a different room, playing video games while using earbuds, and did not witness the altercation," Chief Criminal Deputy Troy Brightbill said in a statement.

The child called 911 after finding Alvarado Saenz and Robles Ochoa bleeding on the kitchen floor.

Alvarado Saenz, 38, died from stab wounds to the chest, and Robles Ochoa, 39, died from gunshot and stab wounds. Investigators concluded the couple was fighting, but they could not determine a "primary aggressor," police said.

Detectives learned the couple was planning on separating.

Police said the gun used in the shooting and found at the scene was stolen from Alvarado Saenz's employer.
