Dec. 8, vs. Cincinnati Result: Penguins 4, Cincinnati 2 The Skinny: After
falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Penguins scored four consecutive
goals from Josef Melichar, Boris Protsenko, Pavel Skrbek and an open-netter by
John Slaney. Dec. 10, at Albany Result: Penguins 3, Albany 2 The Skinny: The
Penguins jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Alexei Kolkunov, Greg
Crozier and Boris Protsenko, and then held off Albany’s rally. It’s the first
two-game winning streak in franchise history. Dec. 11, vs. Providence Result:
Penguins 4, Providence 3 OT The Skinny: Pavel Skrbek bounced a shot off
Providence goalie Kay Whitmore 36 seconds into overtime to give the Penguins
their first three-game winning streak. It’s also their second consecutive
overtime victory. Dec. 17, vs. Albany The Skinny: The Penguins are three
points behind third-place Albany in the Empire Division. The Penguins have a
vs. Philadelphia The Skinny: Philadelphia punished the Penguins the last time
out on Dec. 4, 7-2. The Phantoms are 2-0 against the Penguins, but before
Tuesday’s game remained last in the Mid-Atlantic Division with a 12-14-2-1
record. Dec. 19, at Hershey The Skinny: The Penguins are 0-2-0 against the
Bears after losing to them, 4-2, on Dec. 3. Hershey is just two points ahead
of the Phantoms in the Mid-Atlantic Division with a 13-13-3 record before
Tuesday’s game.
