Louisiana artists shine among 2025 Grammy nominations

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Several Louisiana artists and groups are among the 2025 Grammy nominees announced Friday, November 8.

This year's honors are a blend of familiar names and rising talent from across the state, with standout names in genres like country, roots, and visual media.

Baskin native Lainey Wilson is up for Best Country Album for her hit album , marking yet another Grammy nod for the popular country artist.

Louisiana's music scene is well-represented in the Best Regional Roots Music Album category, with almost all nominations featuring Louisiana artists. Nominees include:

  • by Sean Ardoin and Kreole Rock and Soul
  • by Big Chief Monk Boudreaux & The Golden Eagles featuring J'Wan Boudreaux
  • by New Breed Brass Band featuring Trombone Shorty
  • by The Rumble featuring Chief Joseph Boudreaux Jr.
  • New Orleans' Jon Batiste continues to gain recognition, with two major nominations. Batiste is nominated in Best Song Written for Visual Media, co-written with Dan Wilson, and Best Music Film.

    Tank and The Bangas snagged a nomination for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.

    This year's Grammy nominations also spotlight "Cowboy Carter," who leads with 11 nominations, marking her as the most-nominated artist in Grammy history. Beyoncé, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, and Taylor Swift are looking to expand their Grammy history with nods in categories they've rarely been recognized in before.
