In a scene straight out of an action movie, Macomb County Sheriff's Deputies pulled off a Hollywood-esque rescue mission to save a driver having a medical emergency.

At approximately 2:18 p.m. on Sept. 12, Macomb County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to southbound Gratiot Avenue in Mount Clemens for a silver GMC Sierra that was driving erratically near Church Street, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies encountered the vehicle on Gratiot near Renick Drive, and when they activated lights and sirens, the driver failed to stop, continuing southbound at 5 mph. Deputies pulled alongside the driver and saw that the 63-year-old man appeared to be in a daze, unable to comprehend their requests.

Eventually, the driver of the truck was able to roll down his window and briefly hit the brakes. Deputy Nicole Miron, who had been in the passenger side of the patrol vehicle, climbed out of the sheriff's SUV and through the open window of the truck as both vehicles continued moving down Gratiot.

Once she was inside the truck, Miron was able to stop the vehicle and contact a family member to confirm the driver's condition.

Clinton Township Fire Department arrived on the scene and began treating the driver before transporting him to an area hospital for further medical care.

"I commend Deputy Miron for putting herself in harm's way to help a citizen in need and protect other drivers on the roadway," Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a news release. "Due to her quick thinking and selfless actions, she safely ended what could have been a tragic situation."
