First quarter JuJu Smith-Schuster's early injury disrupted the rhythm of the Kansas City Chiefs offense. The team's first drive ended in a punt, and their second drive faced similar struggles. After a big play to Justin Watson, Patrick Mahomes showcased his athleticism with a 24-yard run, bringing the Chiefs to the brink of the end zone.

However, on third-and-goal, Fred Warner made a crucial interception in the end zone, forcing a turnover.

End of the first quarter: Chiefs 0, 49ers 0

Second quarter The 49ers finally registered their initial first down of the game as their offense struggled to find a rhythm in the opening quarter. Brock Purdy connected with George Kittle on a critical third-and-long play, setting the stage for Purdy to find Deebo Samuel for the game's first score.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes was forced to rely on his legs as his receivers struggled to create separation. However, Skyy Moore, stepping up after Smith-Schuster's injury, made a pivotal catch that advanced the Chiefs to the 49ers' 18-yard line.

Just two plays later, running back Kareem Hunt glided into the end zone untouched, tying the game.

It didn't take long for the 49ers to respond; Samuel caught his second touchdown pass of the game on a stunning 76-yard play.

With 90 seconds left in the half, the Chiefs swiftly moved the ball downfield. Xavier Worthy then caught a game-tying touchdown before halftime.

End of the second quarter: Chiefs 14, 49ers 14

Third quarter It was the Kittle show for the 49ers right out of halftime, as he caught four passes on their first drive, culminating in a two-yard touchdown.

In response, Mahomes targeted Justin Watson frequently during the Chiefs' next drive, connecting five times for 68 yards. The drive concluded with a touchdown from Travis Kelce, tying the game.

End of the third quarter: Chiefs 21, 49ers 21

Fourth quarter A massive sack from George Karlaftis forced the 49ers to punt, giving the Chiefs another opportunity to take the lead.

As the Chiefs moved downfield, their drive stalled near the 49ers' 35-yard line. Harrison Butker stepped up and nailed a field goal, putting the Chiefs ahead by three.

With just 30 seconds remaining, the 49ers responded with a field goal from Jake Moody, tying the game once again.

End of the fourth quarter: Chiefs 24, 49ers 21

The 49ers received the ball to start overtime and methodically advanced downfield. Running back Jordan Mason was instrumental — both rushing the ball and making key catches during the drive.

At one point, the Niners faced a first-and-goal after Mason's 2-yard run. However, on second-and-goal, Karlaftis sacked Purdy. With the pressure mounting, Purdy was forced to throw the ball out of the back of the end zone on third-and-goal, and the Niners settled for a field goal.

The Chiefs wasted no time responding. Once they reached midfield, Mahomes took a shot at the end zone, connecting with Xavier Worthy for the game-winning touchdown.
