Man, 92, found dead after house fire in Portage

PORTAGE, Mich. (WOOD) — A 92-year-old man was found dead following a house fire in Portage Wednesday, authorities say.
Crews were called to the fire on Long Lake Drive near E R Avenue around 3:30 p.m., the Portage Department of Public Safety said. When firefighters arrived, they found fire coming from the front door and windows.
They doused the flames and went inside. That's when they found the body of the 92-year-old man. His name was not released later Wednesday.
The Portage Fire Marshal's Offiec and police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call Portage DPS at 269.329.4567 or Silent Observer at 269.343.2100.
