Man Accused Of Robbing Southington Gas Station: SPD The 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with multiple robberies in Southington.SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 33-year-old Waterbury man is in custody after Southington police said he robbed a local gas station while brandishing a handgun on Wednesday.
The Southington Police Department said Jeremy Edmond, 33, of Cooke Street, Waterbury, was charged with first-degree threatening; fourth-degree larceny; and second-degree breach of peace.
Edmond was held on $1 million bond prior to his appearance Thursday in New Britain Superior Court.
Police said Edmonds is accused of robbing the "Go Happy" gas station/convenience store at 2210 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike in Southington.
According to the SPD, officers were called there for a report of an armed robbery.
"The 911 caller reported that an African-American male had just entered the Go Happy and displayed a black-colored handgun and demanded money," wrote the SPD in a release.
"The suspect was reported to have been dressed in dark-colored clothing and was wearing a face covering and dark-colored hooded sweatshirt."
Police said it was reported the suspect walked behind the counter and took the cash out of the register.
According to police, the SPD had responded to two similar gas station robberies in the past seven days, all of which occurred on Meriden Waterbury Turnpike.
As a result, police were able to develop a description of the suspect's vehicle, a vehicle that was seen entering Interstate 84 in Southington.
"As the vehicle passed the officer, the operator matched the description of the suspect in all three robberies," wrote police.
Subsequently, Southington officers followed the vehicle into the City of Waterbury, where Officers took the suspect into custody without incident.
Police said a black-colored plastic facsimile handgun was observed on the floorboard of the driver's side, as well as a large amount of loose cash in various denominations.
