GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A man was found to be making pipe bombs in his Goshen Township shed.

Ricky Lewis II, 31, is charged with two counts of possession of dangerous ordnance, according to Clermont County court records.

The charges stem from Nov. 1 when documents state officers were flagged down by Lewis' estranged girlfriend.

She reported to police, according to court documents, that her gun was missing/stolen from her home on State Route 134.

The woman explained to officers that her estranged boyfriend, Lewis, lives at the home and he had been making pipe bombs in their detached shed since Aug. 28, court records show.

When she asked him why he was making pipe bombs, Lewis said they were "for when the world goes to s***, we won't be without. We will have protection," the woman is quoted in the court documents.

The woman showed officers where Lewis was storing the pipe bombs, according to the documents from Clermont County.

"[A sergeant] observed in a green metal ammo can two separate metal pipes with closed caps on both ends, with a red colored fuse inserted into the middle of the pipe with adhesive around the base, along with rifle powder and large amounts of ammunition," the documents explain.

A search warrant was obtained and the Cincinnati Bomb Squad responded to remove the pipe bombs.

The ATF also came in to help with the investigation.
