Officers with the Petaluma Police Department and personnel with the Petaluma Fire Department were dispatched shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday to a report that a motorcycle collided with a fixed pole on the west side of Petaluma Boulevard North, just south of Oak Street.
They found a blue motorcycle and a 41-year-old man lying on the roadway, suffering from major injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition, Petaluma PD Traffic Officer Garrett Sholin said.
The investigation was ongoing as police worked to determine the exact cause of the collision.
Preliminary findings showed no other parties were involved, and there was no immediate indication that drugs or alcohol were a factor, Sholin said.
