Man found shot, seriously wounded after crashing into Birmingham Family Dollar

A man was found shot and seriously injured when he crashed his vehicle into a north Birmingham Family Dollar. North Precinct officers were dispatched at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 3100 block of 26th Street North. Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said police arrived at the scene to find the victim in the driver's seat. He had been shot at least one time. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported the man to UAB Hospital. His wounds could be potentially life-threatening, police said. Wade said it appears the victim was shot at or near the Marathon gas station in the 3400 block of 26th Street. He traveled several blocks before striking a pole and the Family Dollar. The investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been announced.
