Man sentenced for 2023 murder of Alamogordo police officer

ALAMOGORDO, N.M . (KRQE) – Dominic De La O has been sentenced to life in prison plus six and a half years for the July 2023 murder of Alamogordo Police Officer Anthony Ferguson .
Investigators say Officer Ferguson was chasing De La O following a crash after a traffic stop. They say Officer Ferguson was fatally shot by De La O during the chase. A jury found De La O guilty last week. Tuesday morning a judge sentenced De La O to life in prison plus six and a half years. The sentence will run consecutive to two previous cases that De La O is currently serving sentences for.
