Marcia F. Freeman was born on 2 October 1931 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Gladys Irene Warner and Lester Addison Freeman. She was the second of two daughters. She graduated from West Haven High School in 1949. Following graduation, she attended a business school in New Haven and was then employed as a legal secretary.

In 1953, she married Mahlon V.R. Freeman, the love of her life. They remained in New Haven for two years until her husband graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine (1955). After spending a year in Wilmington, Delaware, her husband was allocated into the Army for OB/GYN residency at Duke University Hospital, North Carolina. They spent 23 years traveling from San Antonio, Texas, Durham, North Carolina, Fort Ord, California, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Fort Lewis, Washington, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. while raising their four children, Mark, Leslie, Lansingh and Margo.

Following retirement from the service as a Full Colonel, they moved to Denton, Texas. Mahlon continued his work as a Medical Geneticist and did OB/GYN Ultrasound evaluations. Marcia was a volunteer at a local preschool, President of Denton County Medical Auxiliary and enjoyed years with the Hoe and Hope Garden Club.

During her lifetime, she was a long-time member of the daughters of the American Revolution having been a page at the annual convention in 1953. While in Puerto Rico in 1964 and 1965, she oversaw the Ft. Brooke Army Nursery School. She had been involved with military wives' support services, childcare organizations, medical wives' groups and multiple charity organizations. During their married life of 63 1⁄2 years, the couple traveled overseas extensively for pleasure and to accompany Mahlon during his international lecturing.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon (2017). She is survived by four children, Mark (Tx), Leslie (Tx), Lansingh (Tx) and Margo (Tx); nine grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Nancy Anderson (Ct); brother-in-law, Thorp Freeman (Pa) and wife Sally and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
