Meadowbrook Park nears completion

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) – The new and improved Meadowbrook Park in Urbana could be revealed in the next month.

Back in March, WCIA reported that the old Prairie Playground was being torn down on Windsor Road. The wooden structure stood for about 30 years.

Since the old one was torn down, a new structure has been built from the ground up.

The play area is still guarded with fencing, but colorful swings, slides and monkey bars give a taste of what's to come.

"The park is new," Decatur Park District Spokesperson Mark Schultz said. "It's going to be accessible for all ages and all abilities, and we're very excited to show it off. We are putting the final touches on the surface, the fencing and some of the landscaping. Once we get all that settled in, we will be ready to have the grand opening."

Schultz said that opening could be in the next month. The playground's focus on accessibility makes it an attraction that anyone can enjoy.
