Sports ESPN Reporter Doesn't Hold Back His Thoughts About Broadcaster Tom Brady

Tom Brady made his official NFL broadcasting debut for Fox in Week 1 of the 2024 season, and so far, the feedback about his skills inside the booth has been mixed.

Some people have given him praise, like NFL Network reporter Jane Slater who said that she "likes" Brady in the booth because he's "smart" and "not pressing and screaming w[ith] faux excitement. However, there are also others who have been critical of him.

One of his more recent critics was ESPN reporter and broadcaster Don Van Natta Jr., who left no doubt about his thoughts on Brady the broadcaster.

"Tom Brady's problem- and ours- is his voice," Van Natta wrote on X after hearing Brady's commentary during Sunday's Week 3 showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens.

"No matter how much his commentary might improve, Brady's delivery system teeters between mildly annoying to nails-on-a-chalkboard. It doesn't help he's paired with Kevin Burkhardt, whose magisterial voice is made for a microphone."

In a follow-up post, Van Natta also shared a meme that says "Captain Obvious," highlighting his belief that Brady is seemingly only narrating what happens on the field and not really providing an in-depth analysis of the game.

Tom Brady is just getting started in his broadcasting career, so there are certainly a lot of things he needs to learn. Besides, it's just three games into the season, so viewers can't really expect him to be perfect.

The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB has yet to respond to the latest criticism from Don Van Natta Jr.. But based on how he responded to Scott Hanson's criticism of his broadcasting debut, it's unlikely that he's making a big deal out of it.
