Sports Patrick Mahomes' MVP Odds Suddenly Shift Amid Josh Allen's 'MNF' Performance

When Week 3 began, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was the betting favorite for the NFL MVP.

But Mahomes' unexceptional performance in the Chiefs' 22-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons on "Sunday Night Football" coupled with Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen's spectacular outing against the Jacksonville Jaguars on "Monday Night Football," there's a new MVP favorite.

Mahomes' MVP odds were +300 heading into Sunday's matchup. But after throwing for just 217 yards with two touchdowns and an interception, his odds dropped to +325 by Monday.

Conversely, Allen began the day with +450 odds, but emerged as the new MVP front-runner midway through the third quarter of Monday's game after having his way with the Jaguars defense. Allen was pulled early after completing 23 of 30 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns, and he's also the Bills leading rusher with 44 yards.

Comparatively, Allen has the better completion percentage (75 to 69.6), touchdown passes (seven to five), rushing yards (85 to 49) and rushing touchdowns (two to zero), and Allen has thrown zero interceptions to Mahomes' four.

The only areas Mahomes holds the edge over Allen is passing yards (659 to 634).

Mahomes has won two MVPs in his career (2018, 2022) while Allen finished runner-up in MVP voting in 2020, third in 2022 and fifth in 2023.
