PRYOR, Oklahoma ~ Pryor Boys XC continued their stellar season by dominating the Pryor Creekside Invitational last Friday. The Tigers again bested rivals Tahlequah, beating them by 18 points to take the win at the home meet held at the Creekside Church grounds.

The Tigers were led by individual champion Carson Pendley (SR) who established the 5k course record in a swift 17:16.43. "Carson was about a minute off of what he's capable of running. It was a very hot day to run, so times were not the focus... we just wanted to compete," said Coach Nofsinger. "Adverse conditions favor the strong, and that's when we thrive. The win today was simply a result of a relentless pursuit of our team values of character, commitment, teamwork, and discipline. When we chase those big things happen."

This relentless pursuit of excellence placed the Tiger's top 5 scoring runners in the top 10 overall, sealing the victory with a very good 30 points to second place Tahlequah at 48 (Lowest score wins the meet). This was the Tigers second time to beat the 5A #2 ranked Tahlequah team this season.

Rounding out the Varsity squad was (SR) Josiah Long in 5th, (JR) Kallen Mead 7th, (JR) Dayton Hunter 9th, (JR) Sam Porter 10th, (JR) Owen Nofsinger 17th, and (SR) Joseph Buford coming in at 21st.

The JV Squad also had a strong showing, placing second and led by (SO) Kane Mead coming in 6th individually in the JV 5k race. The Middle School Tigers placed 4th as a team led by 8th grader Yosvani Rueda coming in at 8th place in the 2 mile run.

Next week is a big week for the High School team as they fly to Arizona to compete in the prestigious Desert Twilight Invitational, a night meet in the desert outside of Mesa. The Tiger's overall Varsity team time average this year has earned them a berth in the Championship division of the meet, which will be very fast. "We expect huge PR's to drop left and right", said Coach Nofsinger. You can follow all things Pryor XC/Track and Field on the team's social media (Instagram, Facebook, and X) at the handle
