Netflix's new holiday movie Hot Frosty may tell an improbable love story, but off-screen the cast have their own romantic tales to tell.

In the November 2024 film, Christmas movie queen Lacey Chabert plays young widow Kathy Barrett, whose life goes from messy to magical when her red scarf brings a chiseled snowman named Jack ( Dustin Milligan ) to life.

"Jack's childlike, playful quality and excitement of being alive brings out Kathy's playfulness and reminds her what she loves about the holidays," Chabert told PEOPLE in October 2024. "He gives her the courage to consider opening her heart again after such a painful event in her life."

Off-screen, Chabert seems to be a fan of Christmas just like her character — she and her husband, David Nehdar , wed three days before the holiday in 2013. The couple are now getting to experience Christmas through their daughter Julia's eyes.

During an appearance on CBS Mornings in November 2024, Milligan told the hosts that Hot Frosty brought his significant other, actress Amanda Crew , to tears both times she watched the film. As for their special holiday traditions, the actor said they like to put their chihuahua, Doug, in various festive costumes.

The couple wed on Dec. 22, 2013, but didn't announce their nuptials until the New Year.

"He's not in the business and we like our privacy, and I just think relationships are hard enough without the opinion of strangers. So we try to keep it as personal and private as possible," Chabert told PEOPLE in 2014.

Nehdar and the Mean Girls alum share one daughter: Julia Mimi Bella , whom they welcomed in 2016. While Chabert feels "very thankful," to still be booking acting gigs, she told PEOPLE in 2019 that Julia is her " No. 1 priority ."
