Minnesota restaurant openings & closings for September 2024

A Korean barbecue restaurant, a coffee shop that also sells handmade pottery and Minnesota's only restaurant specializing in the Vietnamese dish Bún bò Huế are among the newest places to explore in the Twin Cities.

But as new restaurants open, longtime establishments also say goodbye.

Here's the latest Minnesota restaurant openings & closings:

(3346 Lyndale Avenue South, Minneapolis): The first venture from the recently-merged Five Watt Coffee and Sencha Tea opened in Uptown this month. The new boba tea café serves milk teas, coffee and more. Read more here .

Barcelona Wine Bar (508 Washington Avenue): Spanish cuisine and over 400 wines are on the menu at Barcelona Wine Bar. The new North Loop spot is the longtime chain's first location in the Midwest. Read more here .

(1607 West End Boulevard, St. Louis Park): A new high-end steakhouse opened this month in the Shops at West End space formerly occupied by Andrew Zimmern's Lucky Cricket. The menu fuses Mediterranean and Asian dishes and flavors.

GOGI Korean BBQ (4207 Highway 13, Savage): An authentic Korean barbecue experience is on the menu in Savage, with pork belly and over a dozen other meat and seafood options ready to be cooked over sizzling tabletop grills at GOGI Korean BBQ. The new restaurant is also serving made-fresh-daily kimchi, tkeokbokki, kimbap, stews and more. And, Soju is coming soon.

Happy Monday & Company (2420 Cleveland Avenue South, Roseville): A Twin Cities pop-up coffee shop debuted its permanent location this month. In addition to beverages and baked goods, the spacious coffee bar sells a selection of handmade pottery, candles and small items. Read more here .

Hope Breakfast Bar (350 North 5th Street, Minneapolis): The popular Twin Cities brunch chain arrived in Minneapolis this month. The new Hope Breakfast Bar joins the recently-completed North Loop Green mixed-use development near Target Field. Read more here .

House of Huế (2819 Nicollet Avenue South, Minneapolis): A new Vietnamese eatery inside the Eat Street Crossing food hall bills itself as Minnesota's only restaurant dedicated to Bún bò Huế, a spicy beef noodle soup originating from central Vietnam. Momo Korean Egg Drop (405 14th Avenue Southeast, Minneapolis): Korean egg drop sandwiches, featuring soft scrambled eggs between thick slices of milk bread toast, are now being served in the heart of Dinkytown. Read more here .

Tono Pizzeria + Cheesesteaks (3002 West 50th Street, Minneapolis): The new location becomes the chain's seventh restaurant to open in the metro area in five years. Read more here .

T.J. Hooligan's (6411 City West Parkway, Eden Prairie): A longtime pub-style restaurant in Prior Lake expanded to Eden Prairie this month. T.J. Hooligan's, which opened in 1983, took over the space formerly occupied by Campiello. Read more here .

Wells Roadside (3712 Quebec Avenue South, St. Louis Park): Wagyu smash burgers, hot dogs, fresh-cut fries, ice cream and more are on the menu at Wells Roadside, which opened this month at the former Galaxy Drive In. Read more here .

(1318 Sibley Memorial Highway, Mendota): A beloved Twin Cities steakhouse will close its doors permanently Sept. 30 after nearly 30 years in business. Read more here .

(235 6th Street East, St. Paul): Barrio closed abruptly Sept. 6 after 15 years serving scratch-made Latin dishes and cocktails in St. Paul's Lowertown district. Low foot traffic in the area contributed to the closure, owner Ryan Burnet told Minnesota Monthly .

Chicago's Taste Authority (3101 East 42nd Street, Minneapolis): A south Minneapolis spot for Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches closed this month after its owners say they were unable to keep up with rent increases. Read more here .

POP Culture Frozen Yogurt (3833 Lexington Avenue North, Arden Hills): A longtime Twin Cities frozen yogurt, ice cream and gourmet popcorn shop closed this month. The owners of the independently-owned business cited rising costs for the closure. Read more here .
