Mobile named ‘best run city’ in Alabama, but officials warn against national rankings

Mobile was recently ranked as the best run city in Alabama by financial site WalletHub. But city leadership warned residents not to put too much stock into studies like this one.

Using data compiled from multiple national sources like the Census, the FBI, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control, WalletHub compared 148 of the most populated cities in the U.S. across six key categories: 1) Financial Stability, 2) Education, 3) Health, 4) Safety, 5) Economy and 6) Infrastructure & Pollution, according to their website. The categorical scores were then combined to result in a total city score for each location on a scale of 1-100.
