Kern County deputies arrested a 57-year-old man early Wednesday morning in Mojave after he allegedly discharged a shotgun, which led to the discovery of multiple guns and "booby traps," inside his home.

On October 16, at around 2:50 a.m., deputies responded to the 16000 block of Highway 14 in Mojave. Deputies learned that the suspect, Michael Tipple, 57, had allegedly discharged a shotgun. In a search warrant of his home, deputies said they found high-capacity magazines and multiple loaded guns, including an un-serialized AR-15.

The "booby traps" found inside his home were concealed with explosives, which go off when disturbed, said KCSO.

Tipple was later found to be a suspect in a separate shooting that happened in Mojave. He was booked into the KCSO Lerdo Detention Facility on several firearm-related charges.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Kern County Sheriff's Office at (661) 861-3110.
