MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A Morgan County man was arrested after trying to break into a vehicle on Sunday.

According to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), deputies were called out to a home along New Cut Road in the Massey community due to someone trying to break into a vehicle.

After taking the report, deputies began to patrol the area and were flagged down by two individuals along Highway 55 regarding a person who was laying on the ground.

While rendering aid to the individual, he admitted to being high on meth and trying to steal items from the back of one of the vehicles and damaging another vehicle on the property.

MCSO said the man now identified as Dylan Chase Peck, 29 of Somerville, was arrested and charged with burglary (breaking and entering auto).

After Peck was cleared by medical staff he was transported to the Morgan County Jail and was issued a $2,500 bond.

MCSO added that additional charges are possible.

Deputies are reminding individuals to remove valuables and to lock their vehicles as the holiday season approaches.
