Motorists are being advised to exercise caution this morning after Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow fog warning for 14 counties including Longford, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Meath and Louth.
The warning was issued at 5.30am this morning and will remain in place until 11am. The national forecaster has warned that localised dense patches of fog will result in difficult or dangerous driving conditions for motorists this morning. Mist and fog will slowly clear and bright, sunny spells will develop throughout the day. It’s expected further fog and mist will emerge later tonight and linger until tomorrow morning which will also see some showers in eastern parts of the country. Temperatures are expected to remain low, reaching no higher than 3 to 6 degrees with lows of -4 to 1 degrees expected overnight. Met Éireann said the next number of days are likely to become “increasingly colder with frost and ice and potentially some wintry precipitation”. Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday and Sunday are likely to continue to be cold with some sunny spells with forecasters expecting early next week to bring “cold and mainly dry” weather.Read the full article:https://www.independent.ie/regionals/louth/motorists-urged-to-exercise-caution-as-met-eireann-issues-fog-warning-for-14-counties/a1725055981.html
