Multiple Suspects In Killing Of NJ Police Detective; No Arrests Yet Investigators revealed that the shooting death of Det. Sgt. Monica Mosley involves multiple suspects.

BRIDGETON, NJ — The shooting death of a Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office detective involves multiple suspects, authorities said Thursday.

No suspects are in custody as of Thursday afternoon for the killing of Det. Sgt. Monica Mosley, according to State Police. But authorities determined that multiple people entered and exited her Bridgeton home Tuesday night when she was shot.

One person was detained for questioning in the case, Bridgeton police said Wednesday morning.

Bridgeton police responded to a reported break-in at Mosley's home at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police were told that multiple people kicked in the front door.

Arriving officers discovered that Mosley was fatally shot.

  • Mosley, 51, served the prosecutor's office for nearly two decades. She lived on the 600 block of Buckshutem Road in Bridgeton, Cumberland County.

    Additional investigation led police to Inspira Hospital in Bridgeton and then Cooper University Hospital in Camden. A person being treated for a gunshot wound at Cooper Hospital was detained for questioning, authorities said Wednesday morning.

    Officials have not revealed any identifying information about potential suspects as of Thursday afternoon.
