Delhi awoke under a heavy cover of smog on Sunday (November 17, 2024), with air quality plummeting to severe levels, leaving citizens with limited visibility and health hazards. The dense haze, created by a combination of local pollution and seasonal crop burning in surrounding states, obscured the city's skies, raising public concerns about Delhi's continuous battle with air pollution.

Amid the worsening situation, a man has taken matters into his own hands to bring the change, or should I say demand the change. Here's what he is doing.

A user on Reddit, u/gaurav1406, shared the image of a man holding a placard in public. The man demands fresh air in exchange for votes from the government. The man can also be seen wearing a mask in the video standing on the road, allegedly, in Punjabi Bagh, as the caption of the post suggests, "Somewhere near Punjabi Bagh."

The placard read, "Need Vote? Give O2 (Oxygen), Indiatimes could not independently verify the source of the image.

Concerned with the "severe" air pollution level in Delhi, the administration has prompted the introduction of GRAP Stage 4 anti-pollution measures in the Delhi-NCR region beginning Monday.

The air quality in Delhi deteriorated significantly, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 457 at 7 p.m. on Sunday, placing it in the "severe plus" category.
